Hello! I’m so happy you’re here!

My name is Annette, and I am just a twenty something year old equestrian navigating this crazy world by the grace of God. I started riding at the age of 12 but took a 14 year break due to a few circumstances.
Follow along on my journey back into the equestrian life.

When I am not riding or at the barn, I work in ministry serving God.
I also occasionally go on a date or two…but let’s be real: we live in 2020 where online dating is the norm and actual dates are far and few between. Sigh…

So, sit back and relax. Grab a cup of coffee. And join me on a few adventures.

xo Annette

Meet Mari! She’s one of my trainer’s horses, w Meet Mari! She’s one of my trainer’s horses, who is a champion of her own. Google “Madoc Mari” and you can see her in all of her show glory 😉

I usually ride the paint named Lacie, but this past week I rode Mari. One of my issues with a new horse as an inexperienced rider, is having to learn how to actually ride them 😂

On Lacie, I know her mannerisms and the correct amount of aid. I’ve bonded with her. Mari is a different story. She’s more sensitive than head heavy Lacie.

I told my trainer this past week that I wanted to get her trot down. A few weeks ago, I rode her for a lesson and felt all over the place in the trot. A simple mindset trick did it for me. No fear, just pictured myself doing it right. Over and over I did that, until I could ride half of a dressage test as if I was on Lacie.

Goal checked? Very much so.

The other night, I had a great training session with my amazing trainer, Kalie Beckers. Lacie, the school horse I ride, was more forward than ever before. No longer was she fighting me, but we were in sync and feeding off each other’s vibes in a good way. When I asked to trot, she trotted. When I asked for a bend, she bent.
⁣
I got back into riding 5 months ago after a 15 year break. Did I expect to be where I am today? Not at all. But here I am. Ready to crush a few goals in 2021.

Riding bareback for the first time definitely made me realize where I needed to improve. But getting to that moment (of actually getting on the horse), took a hot minute. All I can say is Snickers has the patience of a saint. But, the wrong mindset can jeopardize even the best of the best. // Link in bio!

How many of us focus on our fitness and our riding, but not our mindset?

Our mindset plays a huge part of our equestrian life. No matter how many lessons you do a week or how intense your physical workouts are, the wrong mindset can jeopardize the best of the best.
